canoe trip

90 degrees and sunny! We decided not to go to the pool because that's where everybody else was going to be today so instead we hit the great Miami River for a canoe trip! This was the first time we have ever attempted to do this so we didn't really know what to expect. We opted for the 5 mile route instead of the 10 mile just in case the boys didn't enjoy it. We should have asked for a 2 mile route and the 5 miles felt like 50.

This will sum up the trip: Parker stood up most of the time. He threw his sunglasses in once. Connor moved from side to side and was mad because he had to sit on the floor. They both hung over the sides sticking their hands in the water. We were half way done and Connor said he wanted to go home and sit on the couch!

There were a lot of different spots to pull over and explore. We found a nice rock bed where we got out and walked up a small creek. Towards the end there was a really shallow part where we just jumped out and found shells. The boys really enjoyed being in the water. It was so hot and the water felt great!

It was a peaceful trip. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. (I also have a talent for blocking out everything the boys were doing that I mentioned above.)

After the trip we walked up to the park. Nick ran to McDonald's and Subway while the boys played on the playground. Connor has mastered the monkey bars and has wounds (blisters) to prove it. Parker climbed on top of the monkey bars and got stuck! And if all of that wasn't enough, we headed to Jim's Dairy Barn for ice cream!

More big plans for tomorrow...
