seriously, these shoes, again?!

WOD:  Daniel

The blog post below was written in 2010. On my way to work this morning, I was thinking about THESE shoes. This is the only pair of running shoes I have ever thrown away. I will never, ever, EVER again throw away a pair of running shoes. I'm too attached.

it's time to say goodbye

A 1,000 miles ago, I bought a pair of shoes..... and now it's time to buy a new pair. This pair of running shoes is like no other pair I've ever had. They have been with me through countless "I can't do this" runs, nervous and built up anxiety pre-race activities and finally numerous finish lines. I never thought it would be so hard to let go of the shoes. I have put it off long enough and the emotional attachment is almost ridiculous. My new shoes will be here today. They will train and debut in October.
REST in peace...thanks for a great run!

in memory of a great man

A hero in many eyes.

Chief Davidson hired Nick at the Tipp City Police Department.
He was there to celebrate Nick joining the Masonic Lodge.
He shared stories of his MP unit in the Army and was there to send him off.

A man who shared the same passion for life.

A man many will remember for his contributions to his community.

A man we will be eternally grateful for having all of the opportunities we have been given.

Marathon Monday

My aches and pains pale in comparison to what the runners and spectators witnessed and endured yesterday afternoon at the Boston Marathon.  May God be with these athletes, their family and their friends.

ice cream problems

Now that Connor has a few dietary restrictions (chocolate, cheese, caffeine), we have been on the ice cream hunt. We need to find a new favorite flavor before the start of ice cream season so he will be ready!

We love ice cream. It's our favorite snack on a hot summer day (morning, afternoon or evening).

I think we found the flavor: blue moo cookie dough (blue ice cream (vanilla with sugar cookie dough).

We are all happy!

run for fun (not so much)

Over the weekend, Nick and I ran a half marathon. Very little training and an extra challenging workout at Crossfit the day before left us both feeling miserable and in a lot of pain. I'm sure we will do it again. It was fun running with Nick.
Here's a shout out to Jim and Jane who both PR's this race!!! Way to go Nana and Papa!!!

a family that crossfits together...

A family that crossfits together, gets STRONG together!

Sunday is our favorite day at the gym. We try to do a family WOD and then let the kids play and try different gymnastic movements. It's awesome to watch them show interest in exercising.
